If you would like to have alcohol served at your event, you must first obtain administrative approval from the University. Please allow at least two weeks for your request to be processed. To obtain the form: "Request for Serving Alcohol on Pacific University Property," please click here or contact Scott Shuman, Office of Legal Affairs at 503-352-2236 or email@example.com.
Per the State of Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) regulations, we must provide at least two different types of substantial food items prepared on the licensed premises. Examples include sandwiches, heavy appetizers, pizza, hot dogs, soups and sausages. Mainly, an event must always consist of three items that may be classified as a "Main Course" item. Snack items such as peanuts, popcorn, chips, crackers and desserts are not substantial food items.
It is required that a licensed server is present to distribute any alcoholic beverages and monitor alcohol consumption as mandated by the OLCC and Pacific University’s alcohol policy. It is required of our staff to request proper identification of any persons of questionable age and decline service if the guest is either under legal age or if proper identification cannot be produced. Service will be refused to any person who, in the company’s judgment, appears intoxicated.
Whenever alcoholic beverages are served, a variety of non-alcoholic beverages are to be offered and featured as prominently as the alcoholic beverages. It is also necessary to provide a sufficient amount of substantial food, available in quantities reflecting the number of persons in attendance.
Arrangements can be made for either a Hosted or No-Host (cash per drink) bar service. If a no-host bar (cash per drink) service is ordered, we will provide the alcohol based on standards from the OLCC. An alcoholic beverage menu is available for you to choose from. Hosted alcohol may be brought in to the catering department for service or feel free to order it from us for your hosted events and we will bill the charges to you.
Our bartenders are available for $25.00 per hour for a minimum of two hours per bartender. NOTE: If serving alcohol, a licensed server MUST be on site during service.
